Review policy
Reviews are only useful if they're honest. These are the rules we hold every review on Perthly to.
Every review is read by a person before it's published
Reviews don't appear instantly. A moderator checks each one for spam, abuse and obvious fakery before it goes live. We publish genuine negative reviews — moderation is about authenticity, not protecting businesses from criticism.
No paid or incentivised reviews
Businesses cannot pay for reviews, and offering customers rewards in exchange for positive reviews will get a listing removed. Writing reviews of your own business, or a competitor's, is not allowed. This mirrors the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission's guidance on online reviews — fake or misleading reviews can breach Australian Consumer Law.
We never edit reviews to change their meaning
A review is published as written or not at all. We may remove reviews containing personal attacks, private information, discriminatory language, or content about a different business.
Ratings are never for sale
Star ratings are the simple average of approved reviews. No business can pay to improve its rating or its position on Perthly — see how we vet listings.
